  1. Just discovered Bird Nation. Wonderful! I just moved to Georgia (near Atlanta) and am trying to learn the local birds, what and how to feed them, etc., so am glad to have access to this site. Thank you!

  4. Hello! I live in Freeport but will be in Kennebunkport for the weekend starting tonight Friday, May 13, 2022. Wondering if you can recommend some good birding places especially for migratory birds warblers etc. for this weekend? Many thanks! Lisa

    1. Hi Lisa,

Thanks for the comment! I would recommend The Timber Point Trail which is part of Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge in Biddeford. It’s right by the water and also had mixed deciduous forests, shrubland, and marshes. I always see a good variety here (shorebirds, warblers, seabirds, songbirds). There has been a good mix of warblers sighted there within the past day. I’m not sure about right now (I’ve only been there during Julys) but it was a little buggy the last few times I went so make sure to bring bug spray. There is parking a lot but it’s very small so I would recommend heading out early.

A place I never tried yet but heard was good is Laudholm Farm at Wells Preserve. Lots of warblers being found there right now. I didn’t see many warblers during my recent trip to Kennebunk Plains but it’s considered a warbler hotspot as well and a great place to view American Kestrels and grassland birds. Good luck and enjoy your birding! Let me know if you find anything cool!
